Measuring only 1in wide, this display offers a very compact solution for displaying information in your electronic projects. The screen has a resolution of 128x64 pixels, and the pixels consist of individually controlled Organic Light-Emitting Diodes (OLEDs) that give the display a fantastic contrast without requiring any backlight! Each pixel is turned on or off by the controller chip, and because they do not need a backlight, power consumption is small if compared to standard LCD displays of the same size!
These displays come in different color options, the most common are:
Monochrome (white or blue)
Two-color (part of the screen is yellow, and another is blue)
Full-color (65K [16-bit] color options for the entire screen)
The display includes a simple way of switching the communication interface between SPI and I2C. We've incorporated the functionality onto the board by using to soldering jumpers on the back (instructions are printed on the pcb itself). We've also added to the design all the components needed for 5V or 3.3V operation, using a voltage regulator, an internal level shifter, and a boost converter. This allows you to plug it in directly to either 5V or 3.3V logic/power on your microcontroller board or single-board computer without the need of an external level shifter!
