Description
This breakout board presents the most convenient way for adding a Bluetooth Audio Module to our projects! We've designed the board to be small enough to fit on a single breadboard, which helps maintain tidiness during prototyping. All the pins of the RN52 Bluetooth Audio Module have been broken out to the pin terminals; the pinout can be seen on the schematic (pdf) and the EAGLE files on the product's repository.
Among the most popular applications using this module, we'd like to highlight:
- Wireless stereo headsets
- Hands-free audio for cars
- Wireless audio docking station for smartphones
- Wireless speakers
- Remote control for media player
Usage
As indicated in the diagram below, after a few simple connections (power, ground, and audio +/-), this Bluetooth Audio module is ready to be paired with our smart-devices. In addition, we can control and configure it by sending ASCII commands to its UART interface—typically using an Arduino or an FTDI Breakout Board.
As soon as power is applied to the board (even without the UART connections), the RN52 will be available for pairing. The two onboard LEDs light up to indicate the status of the module.
