N20 Micro Metal Gearmotor (120RPM, 6V)

Regular price $10.95

These small-sized N20 Micro Metal Gear Motors produce a very strong torque while moving at a relatively fast speed under load.  This makes them perfect for use in a wheeled robot, as they offer a great compromise between torque and speed.

These small footprint motors measure about an inch long. This strong motor has an all-metal gearbox with an impressive 298:1 reduction ratio. It turns at a moderate pace but has a huge amount of torque. It is rated to produce more than 100 ounce-inches of torque at 6V when stalled.

  • Operating Voltage: 6VDC
  • Reduction Ratio: 298:1
  • Speed: 100RPM
  • No-load Current: 120mA
  • Torque: 70oz-in (5kg-cm)
  • Stall current: 1.6A

Remember that stalling or overloading gear motors decrease their lifetimes and can even result in immediate damage. We recommend keeping loads under the instantaneous torque limit of 25 oz-in (2 kg*cm).  As a rule of thumb, for proper operation of brushed DC motors, loads should be kept at 25% or less of the stall current.

These types of motors have a wide operating voltage, however, lower voltages than the nominal 6VDC might not be practical, and higher voltages could decrease the life of the motor.
