Description
Although e-Ink / e-Paper displays have finally become affordable for the DIY Electronics community, it wasn’t until recently that flexible units were even available for demoing. So it’s exciting to offer one such display in this listing, ready to be connected to your favorite microcontroller or single-board computer!
e-Paper/e-Ink is a display technology that mimics the appearance of ink on paper. Unlike conventional displays, e-Paper reflects light just like ordinary paper and is capable of holding text and images indefinitely, even without electricity. This display is made out of flexible material, which means that it can be bent around any surface (please note that even though it’s flexible, constant bending back and forth will damage it!)
Due to its ultra-low power consumption, wide viewing angle, and clarity of display (even without power), e-Paper is an ideal choice for applications such as labels, tags, badges, and others where fast refresh rates aren’t necessary. Some of its downsides are relatively high price and slow refresh rates—in the order of 2 seconds for a full page—compared to OLED displays. Though animations aren’t really possible, we can use e-Paper in displays for things that don’t change too fast, for instance, ambient temperature and other Weather Station measurements.
Both the e-Paper display and the driver board are included in this listing!
